Tim Packer is a Canadian artist who was born in 1961 in Toronto. He studied commercial art in high school and then Graphic Design at George Brown College. He continued to paint, through the eighties and nineties while pursuing a successful career as a Detective with the Toronto Police Service. By the mid nineties his painting had become the driving force in his life and in January of 2000 he left policing to pursue his art career full time.
Tim paints in his studio in Whitby where he lives with his wife and two boys. Readily available as models, they often appear in his work. He is the past president of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour and a senior signature member of the Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists. His work ranges from impressionistic oils of the Canadian Landscape reminiscent of the Group of Seven to highly stylized watercolours and life like portraits
